You must have administrator privileges on the SC you want to modify.

You may modify general information such as the name of the SC, the hostname of the system on which it resides, the port on which it communicates with the SCM, and the timeout value for communication. The following table explains the fields you can edit.

FieldDescription
Sensor NameThe name for this SC.
AddressThe hostname of the system on which the SC resides. This must match the output of the 'hostname -f' command on that system.
PortThe port on which you would like this SC to communicate with the SCM.
TimeoutThe number of seconds before a communications timeout between this SC and the SCM.
PasswordThe password used to validate communication with the SCM (before the validation key is passed).
OwnerThe Owner of the SC uses one of his or her SC Credits to run the SC when it is enabled. They must have an SC Credit available to use before enabling the SC.
PlatformThe platform of the system on which this SC resides.
LocationThe geographical location of the SC. Used to help users organize their systems.
DisabledSelect the checkbox to disable this SC.
Behind FirewallSelect the checkbox if this SC resides on a machine that is behind a firewall.


To modify an SC:
  1. Click the Admin tab.
  2. Click the SController Admin tab.
  3. If there are SCs available to modify, you will see a table of SCs. Click on the name of the SC you would like to modify.
  4. Click the Modify SC tab.
  5. You will now see the fields you may modify, and the current value for each. Make the necessary changes to any or all of the fields.
  6. Click the Modify SC button. A success or failure message will display on the page.
