There are two ways to administer privileges for users on individual servers:

  1. Granting/Removing privs at the user level. You may add multiple servers to the list of servers that users have privs on.

  2. Granting/Removing privs at the server level. You may add multiple users to the group which has privileges on a server.

This help section discusses adding server privileges at the user level. To learn about editing user privs at the server level, see the Related Topics listed at the bottom of this page. For a discussion of what each privilege means, read this guide to the SCInterface privilege system.

This document addresses adding and removing servers to the group that a user may edit, and modifying the permissions on those servers.

Adding Servers for a User

You must have administrator privileges on any server you would like to add to the privilege list for a user.

To add server privileges for a user:
  1. Click the Admin tab.
  2. You now see a table of users for whom you may edit permissions. Click the Username of the user you would like to administer.
  3. Click the User Servers Admin tab.
  4. Click the Add Server tab.
  5. You will now see a table of servers on which the user currently does not have any permissions. To give the user permissions on a server, click the "Add Server" checkbox to the left of the user's name. You must complete this step to add privs to a server.
  6. Now you may choose the individual permissions to give the user. Each permission you can grant has a column of checkboxes in the table. For each permission you would like to grant, click the checkbox in the column. You may select any combination of Status, Start, Stop, Bypass Disabled, Admin, and Config.
  7. When you are satisfied with your changes to the users' permissions, click the Save Changes button. You will see a message showing the failure or success of the action.

Editing Server Permissions for a User

You must have administrator privileges on a server to change the user's privileges on that server.

To edit server privileges for a user:
  1. Click the Admin tab.
  2. You now see a table of users for whom you may edit permissions. Click the Username of the user you would like to administer.
  3. Click the User Servers Admin tab.
  4. Click the Edit Server Permissions tab.
  5. You will now see a table of servers on which the user currently has privileges. A column of checkboxes corresponds to each privilege the user can have. To grant or revoke a privilege, click the checkbox in the column corresponding to that privilege. If a box is checked, the user has that privilege; if not, the user does not have that privilege.
  6. When you are satisfied with the changes, click the Save Changes button.

Removing Servers from a User

Removing servers from the group of servers on which the user has privileges does not remove those servers from SCInterface.

To remove servers from a user's privilege list altogether:
  1. Click the Admin tab.
  2. You now see a table of users for whom you may edit permissions. Click the Username of the user you would like to administer.
  3. Click the User Servers Admin tab.
  4. You now see a table of servers on which the user has permissions. For each server you would like to remove from the user's server group, click the checkbox twice to the left of the servername. This will select all privs, then remove all privs. To remove a server from those on which the user has privileges, remove all their privileges from that server. You may also remove all the privs on a server one at a time.
  5. When you are satisfied with the changes, click the Save Changes button.
